The Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation has launched their latest study investigating Mental Health First Aid training for families of ex-service personnel with a mental health condition.

They are seeking family members of ex-service personnel to complete a 12 hour Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training course (across 2 days).

The course will be free and will involve gaining skills in providing initial support to adults experiencing mental health problems or crises. The course will be delivered by an accredited MHFA Instructor at the Health Hub Morayfield.

The workshop will be held over a weekend.

Workshop: April 6th and April 7th

Saturday April 6th 8:30am - 4:00pm
Sunday April 7th 9:00am - 4:30pm

Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea will be provided.


To be eligible for participation you are required to be:

  • A family member of ex-service personnel with a mental health condition (including partner, parent, sibling, adult child, in-law or extended family member).
  • Currently residing with or in weekly contact with the relative with a mental health condition.
  • Over 18 years old.

Triple P Parenting provides parents with practical tips and strategies for cooperative kids, calm parents and a happier family life. The support that Triple P provide include one-on-one sessions, group sessions, seminars and online support. These programs assist parents to:

  • Raise happy, confident kids
  • Manage kids’ behaviour
  • Set rules and routines that everyone follows
  • Get on well with your kids and argue less
  • Balance work and family without stress

The Power of Positive Parenting Seminar
Tuesday 12th February
7:00pm - 9:00pm

This seminar focusses on why kids do what they do and what you can do about it. This session is targeted towards parents of children aged 0-12.

Through attending this seminar, parents will learn advice on how to raise happy, confident kids, deal with difficult behaviour, get on well with their kids and argue less and balance work/family without stress.

This seminar will be run by Dr Kylie Burke a psychologist and researcher who has twenty years’ experience working with parents and families. Her experience focusses on supporting parents and children across a range of difficulties and life-stages which includes mental health problems and parents of teenagers.

Day Group Program
Saturday 2nd March
9:00am – 5:00pm

This group program provides practical tips for cooperative kids, calm parents and a happier family and is suited for families experiencing multiple issues at home or who want more detail than is provided in the seminar. This group program will run as over a full day and is targeted at parents with children aged 0-12. Support is also provided alongside this program through 3 phone calls in the weeks following the group session.

This group session is run by Matt Vincent who is a professional counsellor that specialises in family, relationship and marriage counselling. Matt enjoys working within a non-judgemental and stress-free environment to support client needs.
