Dr Jamie is a specialist Rural and Remote Physician with Advanced Specialist Training in Emergency Medicine. As a result of his personal and professional experience he is deeply passionate about ensuring patients can access quality medical care when and where they need it most. When not working as an Emergency Medicine and Urgent Care Doctor, Dr Jamie is the Medical Director for an Australian technology company, and a lecturer in Emergency Medicine & Primary Care at Bond University.

Dr Jamie’s areas of professional interest are:

  • Emergency Medicine
  • Sports Medicine
  • Veteran’s Health
  • Virtual & Telehealth
  • Point-of-care ultrasound

Born and raised in rural England, Dr Jamie studied medicine bilingually at the University of Manchester (UK) and University of Rennes (France) ultimately graduating with medical degrees in both languages. A Commando trained Military Officer, he served for 20 years in the UK Armed Forces and Australian Defence Force as a full time Medical Officer deploying on multiple combat operations around the globe.

Initially trained as a specialist General Practitioner in the UK, Dr Jamie’s experiences in military medicine led him to conduct advanced specialist training to become a Pre-hospital Emergency and Retrieval Clinician. In 2015, he was offered the opportunity to emigrate to Australia with his young family, taking a role as a Lieutenant Colonel and Senior Medical Officer in the Army’s deployable Trauma Hospital. Re-training as a specialist Rural & Remote Physician in Australia, he developed a close bond with the communities he worked in and felt that the traditional model of health care was no longer working. Identifying an opportunity to apply his prior experience as a clinician and leader within the civilian health care sector, in 2018 Jamie retired from military service and joined innovative organisations seeking to democratise access to high quality health care.

Outside medicine, Dr Jamie is a father to four young children and a keen sportsman playing rugby, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and CrossFit.
