Is it safe to visit our clinic?

Your health and safety is our main priority. We understand that patients may feel hesitant to visit the clinic for their general health care needs however, rest assured we are taking all precautions to ensure the safety of all patients.

If you present to our clinic with any respiratory symptoms or fever, you may require treatment for your condition as well as require COVID-19 testing in our dedicated respiratory clinic. You will not be able to enter the building via the main entrance but will be directed to our respiratory clinic.

Our dedicated respiratory clinic is located in a separate part of the building to our normal GP clinic which means that general patients have no contact with respiratory patients.

If you visit our clinic and have no respiratory symptoms or fever, have not travelled overseas and have not been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, you will be allowed to enter our building as normal. It's really important to keep up-to-date with your regular health care during this time - whether face-to-face or via telehealth.

 

What are the symptoms of a respiratory illness?

Symptoms of respiratory illnesses include fever, sore throat, coughing, shortness of breath and runny nose. If you present to our clinic with any of these symptoms, you will be directed to be seen in our dedicated respiratory clinic.

 

What will I be asked at the door?

When you present to the front of our building you will:

  • Be greeted by a friendly staff member
  • Be asked questions about the presence of respiratory symptoms (including sore throat, runny nose, cough, cold, fever, shortness of breath), recent overseas travel, contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case
  • Have your temperature checked

You will then be either directed to our dedicated respiratory clinic or enter the clinic as normal.

 

What happens if I do not disclose truthful information in regards to respiratory illness?

If you provide false information to a staff member or health professional in this facility, you may face criminal or civil prosecution. This includes information about the presence of respiratory symptoms and contact with COVID-19.

 

How do I know if I require COVID-19 testing?

If you present with any respiratory symptoms, recent overseas travel or contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case you will be directed to our dedicated respiratory clinic. The doctor will then decide if you require COVID-19 testing.

 

How will I receive my COVID-19 results?

Once you have been tested for COVID-19, you will receive your results within 24-48 hours via a phone call. If you do not receive a phone call after this time, please call us on 5322 4900.

Please note, we have a high volume of COVID-19 results and we are trying our very best to give these results back within the given time. We appreciate your patience.

 

Can I still attend your clinic if I have been cleared for COVID-19 and still have respiratory symptoms?

If you have been cleared for COVID-19 and still have ANY respiratory symptoms, you will not be allowed to enter the normal GP practice. If you need to be seen, you will be directed to our respiratory clinic. Otherwise, please stay home until symptoms clear.

 

Why do I need to be seen in the respiratory clinic if I've already been cleared for COVID-19?

Although you may have been cleared for COVID-19, your respiratory symptoms could be a sign of another respiratory illness. To protect our staff and patients, you will be directed to our respiratory clinic to avoid contact with patients entering our normal GP clinic.

 

Why do we separate respiratory illness from the rest of the clinic?

We understand that patients may feel hesitant to visit the clinic for their general health care needs however, rest assured we are taking all precautions to ensure the safety of all patients.

Our respiratory clinic is run separately to our normal GP clinic so that patients visiting our normal GP clinic have no interaction with these respiratory patients. All patients are screened as they enter the building to check that they have no respiratory illnesses, have not travelled overseas recently or have not been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case.

 

Why is everyone wearing masks in the respiratory clinic?

When directed to the respiratory clinic, you will be asked to put on a mask. All patients are wearing masks to avoid the splatter and spread of coughs/colds in the clinic and to make patients aware to not touch their face.

All staff in our respiratory clinic are in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including masks, gowns, goggles and gloves.

 

What cleaning protocols have we increased during this COVID-19 pandemic?

Patient health and safety is our highest priority. We have increased our cleaning protocols including regular cleaning of door handles, rooms, equipment, chairs, screens and all surfaces. We are also supplying hand sanitiser in all waiting rooms and in the clinic, and are promoting proper hand hygiene.

 

How can I protect myself and others?

  • Practise social distancing - we have adequate signage to promote social distancing measures. Please keep a 1.5m distance between yourself and others. If you are from the same household, you may sit together.
  • Practise proper hand hygiene
  • Only bring essential people with you to each consult

 

Is there an alternative to be seen by a doctor, without coming to your clinic?
